AYFER KARAMANİ
50th Anniverary Retrospective

One of the leading figures of contemporary Turkish ceramics, Ayfer Karamani meets with artlovers in Istanbul at the Kibele Art Gallery. A true retrospective in its own right, the exhibition will present 100 works including panels and sculptures reflecting all phases of the artist’s uninterrupted fifty-year journey in art.

Her first works featured abstract forms in harmony with natural colors. In the years to follow, Karamani’s art was heavily influenced by nature with abstractions transforming into rocky appearances. 80s would mark human figures appearing in her works with mostly monochormatic colors. Softening in time, these human figures started to become the mark of love and lovers in the 90s, a period she also created panels and sculptures bearing the traces of architectural elements in antique temples.

Throughout her career, Ayfer Karamani opened 23 solo shows and joined 18 national and international group shows. She has a Silver Medal from the Prague International Ceramic Exhibition (1962) and Ceramics Honorary Award of the Ceramics Federation (2005).

* The exhibition is open to visitors everyday between 10.00-19.00 except sundays and mondays.
