PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY

16 April 2010 20:00
17 April 2010 20:00

During an incredible career spanning six decades, he started with sending the audience flocking to the exits and went on with satirizing America’s most treasured icons but never ceased to place a critical approach in the center of his creations. At an age when most artists’ best work is long behind them, Paul Taylor remains as prolific as ever and goes on to be one of the pillars of dance in this world. He has made some of the most romantic dances ever put on stage, as well as some of the funniest. Taylor prefers daily events over dance movements in his categories and has collaborated with some of the leading artists of the 20th century such as Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Alex Katz. His 1975 “Esplanade” of 1965, considered to be one of his masterpieces, was choreographed to the music of J.S. Bach whose presence is also apparent in the Company’s Istanbul program. At İş Sanat, his creations are to the music of some of classical music’s greatest as well as Astor Piazzolla and interestingly The Mamas & The Papas. Hail the genious!
