MANU KATCHÉ

Having loomed into the music world as a pop drummer in the 80s, Parisian Manu Katché made a pompous entrance into the world music as a jazz composer, drummer and band leader after his performance with Jan Garbarek and Ravi Shankar at ECM’s 20th anniversary event in 1989. His collaboration with Peter Gabriel and Sting was followed by those with Tori Amos, Eurythmics, Jeff Beck, Youssou N’Dour, Joe Satriani, all musicians from different backgrounds. Collaboration with Jan Garbarek brought his talent into the world of jazz. With a distinctive style that brings an elegant sophistication and poetic sensitivity to the old-school style of playing, Katché received critical acclaim with his recordings as well. His latest album The Third Round is due to be released in 2010.
